God Bless Mr. WoodmanseeToday we are grateful and filled with appreciation for our new principal, Mr. Woodmansee. In his short time with us he has inspired us all to learn, dream and become more. Encouraging us to strive for the extraordinary and readying us for God’s design as we take our place in this world. Our prayer for you, Mr. Woodmansee:
May God continue to let your eyes see the great work happening around you, your mouth be filled with encouragement & praise, your heart be open for the caring of EVERY child in our whole school, your ears for listening carefully to the words of students, teachers & parents, your hands ready for applauding, your clever mind for finding the BEST teachers and making the right decisions for our great school, your feet be steadfast and ready for walking around thinking “THIS is an AWESOME place to be!”! God Bless you, Mr. Woodmansee because he has already blessed us with you. #blessings13 …We are so blessed to share in playful imagination and watch how it transforms into so much more…Our kindergarteners develop oral language skills as they share and dictate stories to the teachers on Mondays. The elements of stories include characters, settings, problems and conclusions, it develops as the stories are acted out in a very special way.
Fridays are Campfire Story Days in kindergarten. The lights are lowered and a log of "flickering candles" creates the ambiance for theatre. A campfire song is sung, hands are warmed by the log and marshmallows are toasted. That delicious toasted marshmallow is popped into our mouths and we are quieted for the story to evolve as the actors take center stage. #TBT Prek 2002-2003...Juniors and Seniors in high school now! Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase…It means no worries for the rest of your days. In the Circle …The Circle of Life, St. Joseph School is thrilled to announce this year’s annual whole school production of Disney’s Lion King Jr.
Sadly, we have to wait to see our kings and queens of the stage until April 8 & 9, 2016 at the West Warwick High School. You will surely feel the love those nights! Audition information will go home soon. Until then… Hakuna Matata! Drawing by: Leah P., grade 1 Candy, it's not just for eating! Grade 2, with the help of their grade 7 buddies, had a fun math graphing lesson. Students were given various colored Skittles candy and graphed them. Together they added up the columns of the graph and discovered that GREEN ruled. Be safe tomorrow night and be sure to collect and sort your candy with the help of mom and dad too!
On Thursday, October 29th, our Grade 7 students enjoyed a highly educational trip to Boston. This was the culminating event for their unit on Tyranny and events leading to the Revolutionary War. They walked the Freedom Trail with a costumed guide, then enjoyed the many delights of Quincy Market for lunch. Then, as a prelude to a unit on biomes in Life Science, they walked to the New England Aquarium and explored their many displays and demonstrations.
Funding for this trip was primarily covered through the fund raising activities of Grade 7 parents, to whom we are very grateful! Also, thank you to our chaperones who helped to keep our students safe and on-topic. Our 7th graders are hard at work. We are making giant posters which diagram a plant cell and an animal cell in Life Science. There are many difference between a plant and animal cell, see if you can find the differences. Their posters will be on displayed in the main hallway next week.
Today in Pre-k we explored pumpkins, both inside and out! The following dialogue occurred between a few of our friends...notice all of the learning that's happening: language development and vocabulary, scientific processes, cause and effect, fine-motor control, relating to others, sequence, change and causality, number concepts as well as cognitive development!
Brynn:"This pumpkin is so hard!" Noah:"But it's not for me. Oh, look my seeds float!" Brynn:" I have 16 seeds." Brayden:"No, there are 100 seeds in there!" Jacob:" I have 100 seeds, too Brayden!" Brynn:" I'm going to put water on my pumpkin!" Noah: "Me too!" Brayden:"Me too! Hey, now it's all wet!" Brynn:"Yeah, but now it's softer!" Brayden: "Yeah, now it's more softer so, I can cut it!" Kylie: "Mines's softer too, so now I can use these (jumbo tweezers)!" |
